About VMPT

The 10th International Conference on Virtual Machining Process Technology (VMPT 2027) will be held in Waterloo, ON, Canada from May 31-Jun 3, 2027. VMPT is the annual conference of the Canadian Network for Research and Innovation in Machining Technology (CANRIMT). VMPT was held between 2012 and 2019 with meetings held in Montréal, Hamilton, Calgary, Vancouver, and Taipei, Taiwan. The conference was paused in 2020 due to COVID-19 and then re-launched in 2026 in Vancouver (VMPT 2026), corresponding with the launch of the 3rd phase of the network (CANRIMT3). The VMPT conference series attracts participants from around the world, including those from educational institutes and industrial sectors.

Research Themes

VMPT 2027 will focus on the following five themes:

  1. Theme I - Digital machining and its integration with additive processes

  2. Theme II - Production machines and their digitalization – dynamics, mechatronics, and controls

  3. Theme III – High performance tooling and processes

  4. Theme IV - Smart sensors, and machine and part metrology

  5. Theme V - Digital twin-based optimization, monitoring, control, and diagnosis

Venue

VMPT 2027 will take place at the University of Waterloo, in the Pearl Sullivan Engineering Building (PSE, formerly Engineering 7 (E7)).
