
Maryam Aramesh

Biography
Dr. Maryam Aramesh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University, where she also serves as Program Director for the McMaster/MMRI Micro-credentials Program. She previously held research positions at Polytechnique Montréal, the National Research Council Canada, and the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI).
Her research focuses on sustainable manufacturing, with an emphasis on machining processes. She has patented developments in a novel class of solid lubricant coatings and an in-process coating method for cutting tools, which have been recognized through institutional awards and industrial partnerships. Her team’s work aims to make machining operations more affordable, accessible, and environmentally sustainable. Dr. Aramesh is also developing methodologies for smart machining, integrating machine learning and optimization techniques with real-time data monitoring to achieve low-waste, high-quality, and highly productive machining operations.
