Yusuf Altintas

Dr. Altintas is globally recognized in the fields of metal cutting, machine tool vibrations, CNC design, and virtual machining. His digital machining simulation and monitoring technologies are licensed by >300 companies and research centers worldwide. He will, thus, lead Theme V (Digital twin-based optimization, monitoring, control, and diagnosis). He has published >225 journal and 100 conference articles (>42,200 citations, h-index of 12, Google Scholar). He is listed as the top machine tool researcher in the world by ScholarGPS and the first Mechanical Engineer from Canada elected to the US National Academy of Engineering. He authored the widely used textbook “Manufacturing Automation: Metal Cutting Mechanics, Machine Tool Vibrations and CNC Design”, and has been NSERC/P&WC/Sandvik Industrial Research Chair (IRC) in Virtual Machining since 2002.
